A Mooki Minute with Jess Dempsey

We recently caught up with Jess Dempsey, Melbourne-based tastemaker, mother, and wardrobe curator. We love Jess for her effortless, yet attainable approach to building a versatile wardrobe, focusing on classic and investment pieces for every day.

Jess’ Instagram is one of our go-to sources for a daily dose of outfit and interior inspiration. Just like her beautiful, newly renovated home, Jess’ outfits are always fresh, effortless, and modern. Whether she is embarking on the school run or attending a fashion event, her focus on quality denim, comfort, and investment pieces, has us lusting after her entire wardrobe!

We chatted about Jess’ approach to winter dressing, the staples she couldn’t live without and the best part about being a mum.

Describe your style in three words?
Comfortable, eclectic and thoughtful.

What is your must-have Winter wardrobe staple?
A good pair of jeans! I love versatility, and I'm all about styling denim for any occasion. Being comfortable is a must for me and I always feel my best when I'm wearing denim, whether it's with heels or sneakers.

You are a busy mum of three boys, what is the best part about being a mum?
The short answer to that is, all of it! I feel so lucky to be gifted three beautiful, healthy children to love and guide through life. Don't get me wrong, it can be mayhem in my house from time to time, but nothing beats the nighttime snuggles when all is calm.

What is your favourite off-duty outfit?
Jeans, a Tee and a Jacket.

What do you love most about winter fashion?
Aside from being a typical winter baby and Cancerian, I love layering. There's something so nice about wearing cosy knitwear and sweats during the cooler months, and thankfully they are on-trend now too.

What is the next item on your Winter Wardrobe wish list?
I'll be looking for some quality long-sleeve pieces that I can tuck into jeans and also use as my building blocks for the rest of the year.
